Our Vision

Our vision is a world where a child’s ability to learn STEM is not limited by where they live or what resources their school has. We are building consistent pathways, from unplugged problem-solving to hands-on coding and mentorship, anchored by community learning spaces like the Ashi Tech Hub.

Tiny & Great was founded to address educational inequality through direct impacts on students in underserved communities. This need became especially evident when we witnessed the significant gap between students with access to resources and those without during COVID. As co-founders, we saw firsthand the effects of this disparity on both teachers and students, and we realized the potential impact of our work at Tiny & Great. Our purpose became clear: to bridge this gap by providing educational enrichment opportunities that empower students from underrepresented and underprivileged communities.

Since then, our vision has become even more personal and more specific. We want a student in Ashi Alagbagba, Ibadan to have the same right to learn, practice, and grow in STEM as a student anywhere else. We want learning to feel consistent, not seasonal. We want the student who meets us through an unplugged summer school session to have somewhere to return to on Saturdays during the school term, a safe space with mentors, structure, and shared computers where they can move from curiosity into real coding skills. We want parents to feel confident that their child is learning in an environment that is supportive, organized, and built with dignity.

Our work is built around a simple pathway. We start where access is limited and teach computational thinking through unplugged activities that build logic, teamwork, and confidence. We then extend that momentum through our year round online weekend coding classes for students who can learn hands-on, supported by tutors and student coordinators. And now we are taking the next step by establishing a community Tech Hub in the heart of Ashi, a place that turns our relationship with the community into a long term system of access. A place where students get access to laptops, learn from beginner to advanced levels over time, receive mentorship, and grow into leaders who return to support the next cohort.

We believe that “tiny” is not small in meaning. It is how change actually happens. Our vision is a future where tiny commitments add up to something great: a generation of students in Nigeria, Senegal, the United States, and beyond who are equipped to solve problems, build solutions, and reshape their communities with confidence.
